Nice post! Another fun Einstein quote: "If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask." ☄️👀
Thanks Jeanne. The Einstein quote reminds me of Lincoln’s line that if he had 3 hours to chop down a tree, he’d spend the first 2 hours sharpening the ax.
We’ve confused learning about science with learning the products of science. But science (the actual process) is deeply counterintuitive. No wonder it gets edged out by neat answers and firm beliefs. :)
Thanks Stacy. I think the scientific method is a direct challenge to what some people have faith and believe in. And power wants no independent center of truth that can challenge their supremacy. So it gets gnarly!
I knew you would have a good response. A succinct one at that. I continue to find myself tangled in the idea that a single being made everything and as such the sciences (for the sake of argument) the being created might be useful knowledge.
Galileo Galilei agrees with you: "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.'
Now, if only more practical hypotheses could meet with the rigor of real science.

It's wonderful to keep observing with fresh eyes, testing hypotheses, and being open to changing your mind. Thanks, Baird
But changing our mind is so HARD, Hans. We just want eternal truths to cling to! (/s)
True, true, true. Being human is tricky, but can be fun.
Dogmatic grasping is not very life-giving, or so I keep learning.
Have a good Wednesday.
So many good quotes that I’m not sure I’ve seen before. Thank you Baird
Glad you're enjoying them, Kyle!

Happy Wednesday, that feels like Tuesday, Baird.
Funny how days have a “feel” to them, right? Sometimes I’m so wrong with my first guess!
A fine collection of quotations - thank you
Glad you enjoyed them, Richard
How timely this post feels today. Science = building knowledge.
Why can't science be a part of belief, faith, and power?
Thanks Stacy. I think the scientific method is a direct challenge to what some people have faith and believe in. And power wants no independent center of truth that can challenge their supremacy. So it gets gnarly!
