Yes it will. The planet doesn't need us. A meteor strike - or our own stupidity - may change the environment in ways incompatible with our own continued existence. New life will evolve. New ecosystems will form. We just won't be there. It will be the collective version of our own individual fate.

I had a meaningful conversation with a close friend yesterday. We agreed that our circle of friends is our biggest asset and refuge. Like-minded, informed, intelligent, ethical, progressive thinking--we are not elitists. We come from many different backgrounds and we share these essential human elements that will somehow sustain us through "the catastrophe"

Sometimes, when everything burns down (metaphorically or literally), we don't need big gestures of recovery. We just need to find those small, protected spaces where we can begin again.
