Such an interesting question, Cliff! Writing this was very satisfying because I felt I was able to pull together some basic truths about work and careers. I was very fortunate to find the work that generated strong satisfaction/flow for me, and I want others to have as much of that as possible.
Brilliant, Baird. I fell into my work as a special needs teacher due to my son being diagnosed with dyslexia. Turned out to be the perfect job for me. I love to read, and I feel so much anguish when I meet an adult who cannot read. I once volunteered as a tutor for functionally illiterate adults. That should have been a clue!
I'm exploring activities, organizations that help others and may lead to more structure, purpose and "flow" in my own life. I've forwarded your essay to my friends and relatives living on the East Coast. My favorite sister, Danette, has sent this to her girls. I have many young nieces and great- nieces who have recently graduated and are looking for "the Right Work".
Cool to learn of your explorations Mark. Nice that you're looking for ways to help. We need more generosity of spirit in this world.
Thanks for sharing this with friends and family. I know so many young adults struggling with the whole career planning project. This essay is for them (and searchers of any age).
How cathartic was it for you to write this article? Curious Cliff would love to know.

Way to be!
This is great!! It’s been more helpful than you know, Baird…
Glad to hear that, Shlee!

Thanks Michelle! I'm glad you found your "right work". That plus your love of writing surely generates good energy that shines through all you do! ☀️
You are following your own advice obviously and the result is so beneficial to others, including myself. Thanks for this!
Thanks for your kind words and for coming along for the ride Michael!
Thanks Baird.
